Thanks to everyone who entered our international, #100Words story competition inspired by the beautiful image of a lighthouse above.
We hoped this summer competition would ignite creativity and were rewarded with so many fabulous stories from writers worldwide. What a privilege and joy it has been to read such a varied collection of narratives and voices.
With so many wonderful #100Words stories to choose from, it was tough to agree a longlist but the selection has been made and we’ve listed all the chosen stories below.

What happens next?
We’re back to reading again and the shortlist will be announced on 3rd July.
Judge, Amanda Saint, will be selecting the winners and they will be revealed on 8th July. We’ll also publish them for you to read.
Our next international, #100Words story competition will be coming in the autumn and will be inspired by another beautiful photograph.
